We have had a number of visits from a variety of lighting specialists
Paul Covell – Theatre and Lighting Consultant
Anthony J Smith – Previous supplier of existing scheme
Derek Oldham – Great British Lighting Co.
AJ Smith are recommending cost effective adjustments to the existing schemes, the other 2 suggest more radical changes. Derek Oldham suggests pendent style lights hanging from the arches which would provide integrated up light (HID floodlights) and variable clusters X x 55w dimmable compact fluorescent lamps
These would be a much lower level than the existing and be easier and cheaper to maintain. They would provide light for both nave and side isles. The solutions for the high altar and transepts were less clear and
we are advised to consult our architect on specific design and to seek the advice of a lighting engineer/designer to calculate the precise lighting requirements and to build a specification for quotation purposes.Derek Oldham recommended Bruce Kirk as a lighting designer / Consultant. He would cost c £3k to make a design/specification.
